In 2010 the stars aligned and we opened our restaurant, Il Mercato Cafe and Wine Shop, on July 16. Many months of construction and boatloads of borrowed money preceded this important day. Now we were ready to define ourselves!
Who are we? We
are the third generation of restaurant owners going all the way back to an Italian immigrant in post-war Germany. Our food is both Italian and German, but there are French influences as well. Our chef and owner, Emily Finne, had a tough two-year apprenticeship
with a French chef years ago in Albany, New York. Then she graduated from the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan, and worked in various restaurants there for 3 years. The rest is history!
